ACT I — THE GREAT SWIMMER

The Great Swimmer marks the first act of Knight Diaries, a new series exploring the imaginary life of a medieval knight displaced into unexpected situations.

Standing 60 cm tall, the sculpture depicts an armored knight wearing a brightly colored inflatable ring around his waist — an encounter between two objects that seem to belong to completely different worlds.

Heavy and light.
Metal and plastic.
Something made to sink, paired with something made to float.

Through this contrast, The Great Swimmer plays with opposites, transforming the imposing figure of the medieval knight into something unexpected, poetic and almost vulnerable.

I was born in a medieval city, surrounded by its cathedral, ancient streets and centuries of history. Later, I spent 12 years living on a boat that I had built myself. In many ways, The Great Swimmer brings these two parts of my life together — the medieval world that shaped my imagination and my deep connection to life on the water.

With Knight Diaries, I am bringing these influences together in a new and personal way, and it is a true honor for me to bring this new series to life.
